Session 12: London Fashion Week
17/02/23
This session was probably one of my favourite ones. Firstly because I think Shoreditch is always a good area to capture unique street-style and secondly because seeing all of these people from the fashion industry going to the was very inspiring. It has made me think of where I want to be in the future and I definitely want to attend these shows next to all of these creatives. They each had a different personal style which is why it was so engaging to photograph them. Seeing them kind of reminded me why I like fashion in the first place.
Before going to the entrance of the fashion scout show I walked around Shoreditch and took some street style of people walking.

I found this one interesting because she is wearing different prints and colours that match with the ones of the store behind her. Even though it’s moving the garments can be seen very nicely.

What I liked about this one is the warm colours of the outfit, it looks like everything fits well together. I also thought that the very long braids she has are beautiful and make the whole look stand out.

I saw these group of runners and thought it would be good for a sportswear brand. Even thought I didn’t end up using it in the zine I think it is an interesting shot that shows the clothes in a fun way. Normally athletes are photographed in more professional setting like a running track for example which is why it is eye-catching to see them in this colourful setting, it is less of a competitive environment.
I later went to the door of the fashion show and captured some street style:

This is actually a friend from my course but I thought she was wearing a very cool outfit which needed to be photographed,

I always like to involve emotion and feelings into my work which is why I not only took pictures of people posing but also others like this. Here my classmate is very happy after meeting an influencer she really likes.

She was wearing many layers of white clothes which created a very nice texture and specially in black and white.

I saw this girl taking photographs and immediately thought that the contrast of her green garments and the white background worked very well. This is a good example of how I like to choose the main object of the image but also include more things like the girls at the back or the detail of the hand in the corner. It creates a more complete narrative which gives the viewer more things to see.

This is an other example where the main focus is the girl in the middle waiting but the other people walking and talking help to create the story.

Again, here I could have cut off the two women on both sides but the fact that we can see a little bit of what they are wearing makes the image more interesting and evokes curiosity.

Fashion week is a chaotic and fast pace time which is why this image of this confused girl figuring out where to go reflects it quite accurately.
