Session 2: Styling session

This media session made me change my mentality on how to approach the process of styling and of creating editorials. Now I know that it is all about experimenting and trying things that I might not think would work at first. Basically trying options that don’t feel completely comfortable. For example, when styling the first look I didn’t think the black tights with white sneakers would look vey professional. This is not something that people would normally wear which is what threw me off. I saw in the end that when we took the pictures it made the images look way more interesting. I applied this in the second look and it can be seen how we experimented even more with layering and colour.

An other thing that I realised from this session is that working in groups can be complicated. I got a bit discouraged at first because it was too complicated for us to get the styles and narratives we where each looking for. In the end we started to listen and keep an open mind on each others ideas and I think we managed to get results we where all happy about. It is still something that I have to work on because if I want to be a stylist in the future I will have to listen and work with many people and specially work with styles that they want.
